Deauville Togo leather watch strap

The shrunk leather Togo used is soft and comfortable to wear. It is made of calfskin and belongs to the group of shrunken leathers. During the tanning process with chrome, the leather is shrunk and the grain typical of shrink leather appears. In contrast to other types of leather, the grainy structure of the leather is more pronounced, but a little finer.

Incidentally, when the light falls in a certain way, the texture of the leather appears like falling rainwater – this is also a good way of checking the quality of the leather. The shrunk leather is unique in its structure and appearance. The leather is made by our relatives, the Perlinger tannery. Centuries ago, their ancestors developed the secret process of allowing leather to naturally shrink, giving it that distinctive and well-known grain.

Today this pattern, which was originally invented in our city of Furth im Wald, has gained worldwide fame. World-famous bag manufacturers use real shrink leather from the Perlinger tannery for their creations. However, there are also many suppliers worldwide who copy the leather. However, the copies are often very bad, since the pattern is only imitated with an embossing plate and the structure of the leather does not appear naturally. We are one of the few suppliers who still process real, naturally shrunken leather and use it to manufacture watch straps of the highest quality. Since the leather is naturally shrunk and not embossed, the grain may vary. All straps are exclusively made by hand in our manufactory in the Bavarian Forest.
