Frequently Asked Questions
General questions
Where do you manufacture your products?
With the exception of two nylon straps, all of our products are carefully handcrafted in our factory in Germany. We are one of the last five manufacturers to still produce their straps entirely in Germany.
Which leather do you use?
Only the finest leathers find their way into our range. Many of these are also used by luxury brands in the bag sector. The majority of our leather comes from Germany – we transparently state the exact origin for each product.
How can I correctly measure the right size of my watch strap?
The most important size for you is probably the lug width. All you need to do is measure the lug width (inner dimension) precisely with a standard ruler. If the measured width is 20 mm, for example, you definitely need a watch strap with a width of 20 mm. The designation 20/16, for example, means that the lug width is 20 mm and the clasp width is 16 mm. The strap therefore runs from 20 mm to 16 mm.
The lengths are differentiated according to the following sizes:
SizeBand length(measured without clasp)
S Women's length 105 mm x 75 mm M Most common men's length 118 mm x 75 mm L Rare length for strong hands 128 mm x 85 mm
Can I order custom-made items?
Yes, we make custom-made items for an additional charge of €35. To do this, you must send us an email with the measurements and type of leather you require. The production time would be 4-5 weeks. We would then send you the invoice and you can pay in advance using PayPal, credit card or bank transfer.
What is the quick change spring bar?
As the day, so the leather strap for your watch. This allows you to easily switch back and forth between your leather straps without any difficulty and without the need for a spring bar tool. The spring bar can be easily attached and removed from the watch using a slider.
Why is a Fluco leather bracelet one of the most sustainable products?
Here at Fluco, we are extremely careful to only use leather from well-known and recognized tanneries that only use hides that are considered "waste products of the meat industry." Therefore, no animal is slaughtered specifically for our products. If humanity ever decides to stop eating meat, we would immediately switch to completely "animal-free" materials. However, at the moment, this makes absolutely no sense from a sustainable and moral point of view.
From our perspective, leather has been the most sustainable material in existence for centuries. In addition, we produce in Germany, where some of the highest environmental standards apply.
There is negative criticism of leather, but this does not apply to the leather we use. The negative examples usually come from tanneries in the Far East, where unfortunately there is no environmental protection.
The tanneries we work with adhere to the highest environmental standards.
One example is Perlinger. The water used by the Perlinger tannery is purified in its own treatment plant before being discharged into the Chamb river.
We source most of our leather directly from Furth im Wald from the Perlinger tannery, which also only sources its hides from southern Germany. This results in short shipping routes and therefore minimal CO2 consumption.
Many of our production machines are stable vintage machines that do not need to be replaced by new machines after a short period of time.
We have been getting our electricity from our own photovoltaic system for 20 years.
Our leather bracelets are therefore both sustainable and morally acceptable and can be recommended without reservation.
Which spring bar type is right for me?
In our online shop we offer three different types of spring bars that are built directly into the strap. The quick-change spring bar is particularly suitable for you if you want to change the strap of your watch frequently and do not have a spring bar tool. The normal spring bar is suitable for you if you have a spring bar tool at home. The curved spring bar is particularly important for watches where the lug is close to the watch case, which is often the case with new Rolex models. The curved spring bar significantly minimizes the likelihood of your strap being damaged at the lug.
